Vegan Bread Brands

Is All Bread Vegan?

Bread is not always vegan. While many bread brands at the grocery store are plant-based, there are always some brands that contain animal products.

As a vegan consumer, you must be careful when reading ingredient lists. There are many animal products that are included in store-bought bread brands, and I will list the most common ones below.

Common Animal-Derived Ingredients Added to Bread: milk, eggs, butter, mono – and diglycerides (only vegan when specified), calcium carbonate (only vegan when specified), honey, enzymes (only vegan when specified), and vitamin D3.

Check out the list below to find many vegan bread brands. I’ve also listed bread varieties that are not vegan so you can be sure to stay away from them. If a brand has an asterisk next to it, it is plant-based, but because the sugar is not organic, I cannot say for sure that it is vegan. If you don’t want to consume non-organic sugar, stay away from the products with an asterisk!

If you’re looking for vegan gluten-free bread brands, all brands with “GF” next to them are both plant-based ad gluten-free!

You can also quickly find where to buy any plant-based bread brands you’re interested in. Most are sold in-stores but you can also buy some online!

This guide is for informational purposes only. All ingredients are subject to change, so be sure to always read ingredient labels before purchasing and contact manufacturers with any questions.
