Tahini Sauce Recipe

A staple vegan condiment made out of ground sesame seeds and other seasonings.

Equipment

  • small food processor

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp minced garlic or about 1–2 cloves
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • fresh herbs: dill, parsley (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Stir tahini before measuring. This will ensure an even consistency.
  • Place all ingredients into a small food processor. Blend until smooth.
  • Adjust seasonings to taste.

Notes

Because your tahini might be thicker or thinner depending on how well you stirred it beforehand, the consistency of your sauce may be off as well. If it is too thick, add some more water. If it is too thin, add some more thick tahini (usually by scraping the bottom of the jar).
