Panda Express Vegan Options

After many years of serving only food made with animal products, Panda Express has finally added some plant-based options to their menu!

The fast-casual Chinese restaurant has an Allergen Guide, which makes it easy to determine which products are plant-based. This Panda Express Vegan Guide was verified using their allergen guide, but feel free to double-check when you order.

IMPORTANT: Because this is a pretty new change to their menu, make sure you always specify vegan when you order. Some stores may not have caught up with the times and might still be flavoring their seemingly vegan options with animal products.

How to Tell if something at Panda Express is Vegan

At Panda Express, you can order a variety of Asian cuisine, including stir fry bowls, fried rice, Asian-style noodles, spring rolls, and more. To find all of the vegan options at Panda Express, you have to search through their allergen guide and ask your server.

In their allergy menu, they list all of their food choices along with a list of common allergens, including wheat, soy, tree nuts, fish, peanuts, shellfish, eggs, and milk.

To determine if something is plant-based at Panda Express, make sure the product:

  1. Is not a meat product (or flavored the old way with an animal product – ask your server)
  2. does not contain these allergens: fish, shellfish, eggs, and milk.
  3. does not contain the word “honey” in the title or description.

The disclosure found at the bottom of Panda Express’s Allergen Guide:

Panda uses ingredients that contain all the major FDA allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, fish, shellfish, milk, soy and wheat). Panda prepares its entrees fresh with shared cooking equipment and therefore allergens could be present in any entree.

If you have an allergy and are hesitant about ordering something, contact Panda Express directly.

Personally, if there is a chance of cross-contamination — like when a product says “may contain milk” — I still eat it and consider it to be vegan. But just know that they make this disclosure in case you feel differently.

You can go item-by-item trying to find out if something is vegan, but I already did all the work for you. Check out my easy, interactive Panda Express Vegan Menu to find every plant-based product they offer!

Hi there. Our meatless options include Super Greens, Eggplant Tofu, Chow Mein, and Steamed White and Brown Rice. While these dishes do not have animal product or byproduct, all items at Panda Express are cooked and prepped in the same kitchen facilities in store, so we have not claimed that our menu is vegetarian or vegan.
