Vegan Pesto Sauce Brands

Is Store-Bought Pesto Sauce Vegan?

Almost every brand of pre-made pesto sauce contains milk (usually parmesan cheese). But more and more vegan pesto brands are coming out all the time, and this list will help you find ones at your local grocery store!

It will be difficult to find vegan pesto sauce at stores like Walmart, but you have a much better chance of finding them at stores that carry a good selection of specialty plant-based foods. This includes well-known stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, but you can also find some of these brands at stores like Publix, Kroger, and Albertsons.

For some of these brands, you might just want to buy them online instead of having to go to a certain grocery store. If you can buy one of these vegan basil pesto sauce brands online, I’ll put a link in the “buy online” section. Otherwise, you can see which grocery stores carry the brand in the description.

Keep in mind that ingredients are always subject to change. Be sure to read the ingredient labels before buying and contact manufacturers with any questions.

Trader Joe’s Vegan Pesto is a creamy pesto option found at TJ’s! It’s a relatively new product, and many people love it (me included!). You can use it for a pesto pasta or use it as a spread for sandwiches or bread. It is flavored with kale, cashew butter, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper. This brand is inexpensive compared to other similar products, and of course, it is 100% vegan.

Victoria Vegan Arugula Pesto Alfredo Sauce

Victoria Vegan Pesto Alfredo

Victoria Vegan Pesto-Alfredo sauce is the creamiest vegan pesto you are going to find! It is a thick pesto pasta sauce (with the help of cashew cream) that is flavored with arugula and pine nuts. In addition to being vegan, this Victoria Fine Foods pesto is also Kosher, gluten-free, and non-GMO!

You can buy this product at Greenwise Market, Whole Foods, Frys, Winn Dixie, Albertsons, and more! The selection varies by location, so use their product locator to find the closest store to you that carries it!

Seggiano Fresh Basil Pesto Genovese

Seggiano Fresh Basil Pesto is not only vegan-friendly, but it’s also clean-label and only made with five ingredients! It does contain cashews and pine nuts, so those with nut allergies should avoid this brand. But for those on other diets, this vegan pesto sauce is also keto, paleo, gluten-free, and non-GMO!

You can find this product at Whole Foods Market. You can also have it delivered right to your door with Amazon Prime Whole Foods Delivery!

Jar Goods Beet + Basil Pesto

This clean-label vegan pesto has a unique twist: It’s flavored with marinated beets! It does not contain cashews like many of the other pesto sauces, but it does contain walnuts. If you’re not a fan of the typical cashew-cream pesto, you might want to give Jar Goods Beet + Basil Pesto a try!

You can find this brand of pasta sauce at select health food stores, but it’s much easier to buy Jar Goods products from their website. If you want to buy their products from the store, I suggest looking at their product locator to see if they are sold at a store near you.

Sprouts Organic Vegan Basil Pesto

Sprouts Vegan Basil Pesto

If you have a Sprouts Farmers Market nearby, you can pick up a jar of their Organic Vegan Basil Pesto! It is affordable compared to other jarred pesto sauces and USDA certified organic. This pesto sauce is made with unique ingredients — in addition to the cashews that make it creamy, it is also made with potatoes and tofu!

You can only buy this product at Sprouts Farmers Market.

Amore Pesto Paste

Amore Pesto Paste

Buy Online: Amazon

If you are looking for a vegan pesto paste instead of a jarred sauce, Amore Pesto Paste is the easiest to find and one of the most popular brands. The advantage of a pesto paste is that it will last longer in the refrigerator than a jarred sauce. If you want to add a little pesto flavor to a sandwich or an appetizer, a pesto paste would be better. (You wouldn’t want to open an entire jar only to use a little bit.) But if you wanted to make a pasta with it, just use the whole tube at once!

You can find this pesto paste on Amazon, or you can find it at many different grocery stores. Some popular stores that carry this product are Kroger, Walmart, Albertsons, HEB, Publix, Winn Dixie, Harris Teeter, and more! Use their product locator to find a store near you!
