Is Store-Bought Pesto Sauce Vegan?
Almost every brand of pre-made pesto sauce contains milk (usually parmesan cheese). But more and more vegan pesto brands are coming out all the time, and this list will help you find ones at your local grocery store!
It will be difficult to find vegan pesto sauce at stores like Walmart, but you have a much better chance of finding them at stores that carry a good selection of specialty plant-based foods. This includes well-known stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, but you can also find some of these brands at stores like Publix, Kroger, and Albertsons.
For some of these brands, you might just want to buy them online instead of having to go to a certain grocery store. You can use it for a pesto pasta or use it as a spread for sandwiches or bread. It is flavored with kale, cashew butter, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper. This brand is inexpensive compared to other similar products, and of course, it is 100% vegan.
Victoria Vegan Arugula Pesto Alfredo Sauce
Victoria Vegan Pesto-Alfredo sauce is the creamiest vegan pesto you are going to find! It is a thick pesto pasta sauce (with the help of cashew cream) that is flavored with arugula and pine nuts. In addition to being vegan, this Victoria Fine Foods pesto is also Kosher, gluten-free, and non-GMO!

Seggiano Fresh Basil Pesto is not only vegan-friendly, but it’s also clean-label and only made with five ingredients! It does contain cashews and pine nuts, so those with nut allergies should avoid this brand. But for those on other diets, this vegan pesto sauce is also keto, paleo, gluten-free, and non-GMO!

If you are looking for a vegan pesto paste instead of a jarred sauce, Amore Pesto Paste is the easiest to find and one of the most popular brands. The advantage of a pesto paste is that it will last longer in the refrigerator than a jarred sauce. If you want to add a little pesto flavor to a sandwich or an appetizer, a pesto paste would be better. (You wouldn’t want to open an entire jar only to use a little bit.) But if you wanted to make a pasta with it, just use the whole tube at once!
